Seattle Bike expo 3-10-12
Out of all the stops that we are making this
spring and summer, this is the one event I
have been looking forward to for a while. All
kinds of enthusiasts from the casual riders
to the stunt bikers will be out at the Seattle
Bike Expo up in Pier 91 this upcoming
weekend. Out of all the performances that
will be occurring that weekend, I am most
excited for the Ride and Glide BMX Stunt
Team that will be performing.
Whether it be tail whips, flairs or a
combination of both, the Ride and Glide
Stunt team will surely impress. Not only does
the team impress with their trick prowess,
Ride and Glide seeks to send out a positive
message about living a healthy lifestyle,
staying drug free and promoting self
confidence in young children to go out and
do what they love. Through the Ride and
Glide program, hundreds of kids among the
various elementary schools, Boys and Girls
Clubs and expos/festivals around the
Northwest have been able to enjoy the
acrobatics that the team throws in the air
while learning about the importance of
safety and living a healthy lifestyle. It is the
positive messages that the Ride and Glide
team promotes that makes me excited to
work with the team through Emerald Pacific
this upcoming weekend. We will be working
with the team this upcoming weekend to get
media for them to help promote their
message of living a healthy lifestyle and
staying drug free to build confidence in
children to be successful for future
endeavors.

Turn on the lights warm up the announcer it's
time for some racing! What kind of racing you
ask, BMX racing of course. The night of
February 16, 2012 all the riders were ready to
attack River City BMX track in Grants Pass, Or.
and that they did. If you don't know that much
about bmx that is ok, everyone I talked to was
more than happy to answer your questions.
Like do the riders get to pick their numbers?
Answer is they have to earn them, so the lower
the number the better the rider. As I waited for
the races to begin I stopped by their snack bar
and ordered the best hot chocolate for only
fifty cents.
The races started at 6:00 and the 26-30
Cruiser class was off the gate. Make sure you
don't take your eyes off the race or you would
miss #4 Eric"E Dog"Lindorf take the win. #7
Breanna Galle took second with Michael
Ireland with third. Next were the 7 Intermediate
riders with #1 Lucy"Wild Thang"Mialkovsky
leaving all the boys in her dust. Taking second
was #96 Aiden Dietz and third was #100 Colby
Redding. Moto #3 we had 7 Expert with #19
Gaven"Torpedo"Godwin with the win and #1
Jake"The Snake"Roberts with second and third
was #57 Marcus Moore. Moto #4 was the 9
Experts with #85 Nathan Riggs with the win and
#127 Jacob"The Hunter"Esterline in the
second spot. Taking third was #43
Lavendar"Animal Girl'Applegate. Moto #5 we
had the 14 Intermediate with #136 Royce Allen
Adkins with first, #82 Jesse"The
Diesel"Cummins with second and #14 Richard
"Superfly"Moore with third. Moto #6 was the
36-40 Experts with #12 Justin Molea with the
win followed by #39 Tom Williams and taking
third was #263 Will Williams.
It was a great night of racing and I can't wait to
go again! If you are looking for a fun family
sport, look no further than River City BMX
track. Check out their website at
rivercitybmx.webs.com to see when the next
time they race. There is no cost to watch so
stop by and cheer on the racers.

On February 15th I set out to do some
Mountain biking coverage and hooked up with
a few Local Mountain Bikers named Caleb
Doane, Cody Sells, Shane Blair and Brad
Robbins. We went to a cool little downhill
park in the middle of Grants Pass, OR. called
Sunset Park located on Sunset St. and Grant
St. After a 20 minute hike up to the top we
went over to a hip section to start shooting
some photos. The guys were ripping off
the hip and catching some good size air for
their whips and some tabletops. After a few
shots we decided to start doing some shooting
on the track for a promo video for our contest
that we plan on putting on in the near future
here at Sunset Park. When we were shooting I
had that same feeling of excitement and fear
like when I shoot motocross and sure
enough a few times I had to turn, dodge and
run out of the way from flying bikes. We went
all over the hillside and I must say it is a pretty
cool park with a few high speed burms, table
tops, doubles and drop offs. After the
session we all talked, and with Caleb being a
professional mountain biker, we decided to get
together and put on a slalom style 2 by 2
competition this year some time in the spring.
Stay tuned for more details on the event
coming up!
